Donna Lawrence is a writer of women’s fiction set in historical periods, often touching on coming-of-age in small-town America. Miss Virginia and the Sweet Sisters: A Novel,  is her coming-of-age suspenseful murder mystery debut novel. Looking In from Outside, a collection poetry and prose is her latest work, released in 2023. As of 2020 and 2021, two of her poems are featured on the 9/11 Memorial Website. Once there, simply click on the blank pages to view each poem. A novella, with a collection of short stories is scheduled for release in 2024. She is currently working on her third novel. 

Donna is a history buff and avid reader; she is also a creative who enjoys expressing herself on paper or in song. Writing music lyrics is also a favorite pastime, having written “Every Day” and “Bridges Burned” in 2004 and 2009, where she also provided lead and background vocals. She loves a story well told and enjoys a variety of movie genres, especially if the story is depicted from an intelligent perspective.

Donna obtained her Associate’s Degree from an all-girls Christian College (now Midway University) and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Morehead State University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

She was born and raised in Kentucky but has been a longtime resident of Colorado. Both states hold special meaning, and the many experiences she’s had are ones she draws on in her writing. She also posts monthly on her blog, which provides an outlet when she is not working on her latest manuscripts under Colorado’s brilliant blue skies.
